Let The Branding Begin: 2015 Logo To Be Unveiled

Prince George, BC – Prince George residents will have their first opportunity to see the logo that will ‘brand’ the 2015 Canada Winter Games – our Games – one week from today…
Both the federal and provincial Ministers of Sports, local politicians, the Chair of the Canada Games, Tom Quinn, and the CEO of the 2010 Vancouver-Whistler Olympics, John Furlong, will be on-hand for the official unveiling that is open to the public at 1pm in the main concourse of Pine Centre Mall next Saturday, April 14th.
2015 Canada Winter Games CEO, Stuart Ballantyne, will offer up few hints, except to say, "We’re going to tell a ‘Northern story’, so…"
Ballantyne agrees that revealing the logo and launching the volunteer drive next weekend is a key step in involving the community. "I think it’s always good to have a rally point, so branding and logo types are about pageantry," he says.
"It’s about pride, so obviously we want to make sure the logo represents the community, represents what’s going to happen in 2015," says the local Games CEO.
"But, at the end of the day, it’s the people that will actually make 2015 successful – whether it’s the athletes, the volunteers, and just the citizens from this part of the world. (OP250 News file photo shows the crowd lining Victoria Street in July of 2010, during the Bid Selection Committee’s visit)
To that end, next Saturday will also mark the start of the second phase of volunteer recruitment. During the bid phase, 2,000 people signed up to volunteer for the games. Now, city residents can go online and register at www.canadagames2015.ca
"The spirit and passion that comes with any kind of event – and especially a Canada Games – comes from those volunteers," says Ballantyne. "And that’s why it’s so important for us to be able to kick this off again and get people registered and build that number because we’re looking to get up to 6,000 people registered."

Good video on youtube on the condition of the city streets

Awesome charles….I couldn’t watch after the narrator admits he doesn’t know what a fuel truck is or how the gas in his car got to the gas station.
“It’s about pride”? How about having some pride in the pathetic goat-trails you call city thoroughfares!!
“We want to make sure the logo represents the community.” So pretty much a dirty t-shirt with holes in it, and a “Green” flap at the back that repeatedly reaches into your pocket to try and steal your wallet. Those should sell like hotcakes!

Host City:
Prince George B.C. Crime Captial Of Canada 2 Years In A Row.
Where the word Green has many meanings.
You have to be there!
I am sensing some hostility here…..
Gee I wonder if they will use the ” Good Time” moose or Mr.PG ? Nothing screams redneck better than the stick man.
How about we cancel the games , and use what money the city has to fix the damn streets. This is B******t. I am sick of replacing tires, rims and front end parts. The city pot hole repair crew tell us their packer is broke down and the city does not have the finances to repair it. Enough!!!!!

Was just checking out the web and found this neat machine, The Python 5000 Pothole Patcher. (www.pythonmfg.com/patchrite.html).
We could put the Wintergames Logo on it!
Stop whining….and DO something about it!! :-)
I didnt even know the city owned a tamp tool. Would another name for it be a shovel? Just wodering.
Cheers
Back to branding. Hard to do when the Canada Games brand likely needs to dominate.
Here is the insprational one from Whitehorse.

Here is looking forward to some more freedom and inspiration.
Twinbell – while I agree the roads are in tough shape, if you are actually “sick of replacing tires, rims and front end parts” then I suggest looking at your driving habits and abilities…
The games are coming people, griping on a blog does nothing but raise your blood pressure.
gus, the only ‘tamper’ I’ve seen them use for a long time is their boots.
How did you all get from a packer to a tamp tool ?
Sure hope they don’t use the above picture in our Canada Winter Games brochure. Makes one wonder who wears their good clothes. Their parents must be proud. Obviously it ain’t their “Sunday best”. Ah, youth!
