Arson Charges Laid

Prince George, B.C.- A 21 year old woman is facing charges of arson  in connection with  a fire at a Diefenbaker Drive residence.

On Tuesday, April 10th,  at 6:18 PM, the Prince George RCMP were called to assist Prince George Fire / Rescue at a residential fire on the 1400 block of Diefenbaker Drive in Prince George.

 
Prince George Fire / Rescue extinguished the fire, which was confined to two rooms in a unit on the upper floor of the 4-plex residence. The fire has been determined to be incendiary in nature. The scene and the investigation was handed over to the Prince George RCMP for investigation.
 
As a result of evidence obtained at the scene, one person has been arrested by police. 
 
On the afternoon of April 11th, 2012, two counts of Arson were approved by Provincial Crown Counsel against Cherri Kaitlyn Gunanoot, a 21 year old female Prince George resident.
 
Investigators believe this is an isolated incident and in no way related to other fire investigations. The investigation continues.
