Telus CEO Darren Entwistle makes announcement in Prince George
Prince George, B.C. – Telus has announced it plans to spend $103 million dollars in Northern B.C over the next 3 years to expand 4G LTE to Prince George, connect Northern communities to broadband internet and increase internet speed and capacity in several communities.
Of that $103 million, Telus says $60 million will be spent in Prince George.
Telus hired 150 people last yearin Prince George as it expanded its customer service centre, and plans to hire another 70 skilled people in Northern B.C. this year to offer support for it’s Optik TV. Entwhistle says Telus is hoping to add another 5000 Prince George homes to its Optik TV service, bringing the Prince George numbers to 30,000 homes with Optik TV.
Communities to be linked to broadband include Cluculz Lake, Kitwanga , Hansard, Wet’suwet’en and Reid Lake. Wireless coverage along critical northern highways will also be extended.
At a major announcement event this morning in Prince George, Telus also announced it is launching a fund raising campaign to raise dollars for the construction of the Prince George Library’s SkyLab.

They should invest some of that money improving the processes within Telus. Dealing with Telus and their employees was the only reason I switched and won’t go back. The customer service is horrible.
Shaw service is getting bad too, but they have a much more stable product in my opinion.
Sorry ,if you live in the Sticks, Telus is all you got , the other Jokers can’t make any Money here ,so you are out of Luck to choose. I just wish I could use Telus Internet and give up on the money grabbing outfit I must use now.
Get better service in Telkwa!!!
103 million. Isn’t that just about the same as Mr. Entwistle’s yearly salary??
Well this is welcome news. Highway coverage is def lacking and true 4G will be nice for tablets etc.
Actually there are many options other than Telus if you live in the sticks. However none are great.
More good news for the North!
Telus and service, is that a conflict? Be careful what you wish for. I have telus connection and what they advertise and actually deliver are 2 very different things.
How about Optik service on Laurier Cres? 10 blocks from the Telus Hub in downtown.
How about english speaking Telus reps who we can call and understand when we call in for help?
I am sick and tired and frustrated dealing with people who cannot speak english that I can understand and who cannot understand the English that I speak.
We live in the west and most of us speak English. Provide us with English speaking employees please.
I will remain with Shaw until you do.
I have telus TV and when the contract is up, I’m going back to shaw. The nice thing about shaw is that I can go to their office and speak to someone I understand. They are always polite, and most willing to help with any problems. Telus is a faceless corporation, doesn’t give a —- what we want and that is precicely why you cannot walk into an office and speak with anyone. They don’t want you to be in contact—just pay and shut up.
