Crash Involving Police Vehicle Sends Four To Hospital
Crash involving RCMP suburban and Honda Civic at 4th Ave and Winnipeg Street
Prince George, BC – Four people are in hospital following a two vehicle crash that involved a police vehicle at a downtown intersection earlier this evening.
RCMP Media Liaison Officer, Corporal Craig Douglass, says the collision occurred at approximately 8pm at the intersection of 4th Avenue and Winnipeg Street.
Emergency services including Prince George Fire Rescue, the BC Ambulance Service and RCMP responded immediately.
Corporal Douglass says the crash involved a police suburban and a Honda Civic. Douglass says, "One of the three occupants of the Honda Civic was removed from the vehicle with the assistance of the ‘Jaws of Life."
All three were transported to the University Hospital of Northern BC with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The lone officer in the suburban was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Corporal Douglass says the investigation into the collision has been handed over to the North District RCMP Traffic Services Section. A collision reconstructionist currently remains at the scene, gathering measurements and evidence in order to help determine the cause of the crash.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the North District RCMP at 250-649-4005 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Jeez getting hit by one of those bumbers with the weight of a suburban, the people in the civic are lucky to be alive.
Its seems to me we have had a lot of serious notable accidents of late involving the RCMP. Its what now half a dozen in the last year? As a ratio it seems as though they are off the scale compared to any other population sample.
I can think of two.
Just to start, Highway 97 last winter, 1st Ave single car into power pole, Queensway, Domano, Hart Highway just north of the bridge, thats five.
And if I remember right 4 of those 5 happened within about 10 or 12 days of each other too.
There was also an accident between an RCMP suburban
Let me try that again… There was also an accident between an RCMP suburban and civilian cars at the intersection of Massey and Carney a couple of months ago. The officer was looking at his laptop and drove into the car ahead of him.
I love the comment about more accidents involving police cars compared to any other population sample….really…you have any stats to back that up eagleone….and besides what other “population sample” has cars on the road 24hrs a day 7 days a week 365 days a year? Just throwing that out there to chew on…
