Prince George, B.C. – Three Lakeland Mills employees injured in Monday evening’s explosion and fire at Lakeland Mills are being air-lifted to hospital in Vancouver.

Northern Health’s Director of Communications, Steve Raper, says as of this hour, the University Hospital of Northern BC has seen a total of 25 patients – 15 remaining in hospital and three being transferred.

Raper is unable to provide any condition updates, except to say, "Of the 15, they range in severity – from minor, to some still being assessed and held, some are being admitted, some are in surgery – so it ranges in the 15."

Raper says UHNBC does not anticipate receiving anymore patients from the mill site and expects to wind down the Code Orange that was declared at 10pm Monday night, where all hospital resources were mobilized to deal with the disaster.

"That’s not to say we wouldn’t be prepared to receive patients should some more come in, but at this time, we think we’ve received all of those that we’re going to receive."

Raper expects to continue posting bulletins on Northern Health’s website through the night at www.northernhealth.ca
