Prince George, BC – City Hall has issued a further statement from the mayor’s office regarding the Lakeland Mills tragedy.

It states that Prince George Mayor Shari Green and members of Council want to extend a sincere thank you to all of the emergency responders who attended professionally and selflessly to the needs of those impacted by this event. "We were devastated by the news of a fatality and send sincere condolences to the entire Lakeland family. This is a sad day not only for coworkers and loved ones, but for the entire community", said Mayor Green.

The coming weeks will be difficult as the community joins with Lakeland leaders to work through the process of determining and responding to the needs of all those affected. The Mayor’s office has received tremendous support from all government partners and offers of assistance have been received from across the country and across the North. "I have been so heartened by the early and generous offers of services", commented Green. The City of Prince George will work with Lakeland principals to coordinate services as they are required throughout the recovery phase of the tragedy.
