Murray Returned As Chair Of CNC

Prince George- The Chair of CNC’s Board of Governors and two Vice-Chairs were re-acclaimed at the College’s Annual General Meeting Friday.
 
Robert Murray was re-acclaimed as chair for the second straight year. Murray, who was first elected as board chair in September, 2011, has been on the College’s board for more than five years, including a two-year term as vice-chair for regional campuses.
 
Murray is a Forest Technician and worked in the forestry industry for more than 35 years. He has completed 16 Forest Technology courses administered by BCIT and has taken computer science courses at the College of New Caledonia.
 
Keith Playfair was re-acclaimed as vice-chair for regional campuses. Playfair, a resident of Fort St. James, was appointed to the board by the provincial government in August, 2009. Playfair spent the majority of his career in the forestry industry and was the founding member of the BC Forest Safety Council.
 
Linda Smerychynski was re-acclaimed vice-chair for Prince George. She was appointed to the board in July 2008. Smerychynski has served as Chair of the Economic Development Association in Masset and Chair of the Okanagan College Advisory in Vernon. Smerychynski is the district electoral officer for Nechako Lakes and is an accredited judicator for three provincial ministries.
 
Also joining the board recently for a two-year term was Lee Ongman, a long-time lawyer from Prince George. She holds a law degree from UBC and has been an adjudicator for the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal and spent 12 years on the board of the Prince George Native Friendship Centre

I think there were plenty of founding members …. so he would have been a founding member.
