Seeking ‘Subjects’ To Celebrate Diversity

Saturday, April 28, 2012 @ 12:13 PM

Prince George, BC – City residents willing to be part of a public art project aimed at celebrating diversity in Prince George are being invited to UNBC this afternoon.

Photographer, Aidan Callison, would like to take your picture for a large piece of artwork that will soon hang from the ceiling in the Prince George Airport.

Welcome PG’s, Kelley Hilton, says, "It will be like a giant mobile – or a chandelier – where we have about 500 pictures hanging from it.  It will be a steel structure in the shape of the two rivers meeting here.  And so these 500 pictures will be of Prince George residents to celebrate our local diversity."

Callison is set up in the administration building at UNBC until 4pm this afternoon.  Hilton says the ‘photo session’ is free and is open to anyone and everyone.

If you’re not able to stop by this afternoon, but would like to submit a photo, you can email it to celebratingdiversity_PG@hotmail.com

More information is available about the project by clicking here.

Will there be an honorarium, stipend or a looney or a Twoonie handed out to cover my cost of allowing my likeness to be reproduced for public display? I will volunteer for a couple of bucks. Maybe seeing as we have a very bad reputation for crime, maybe the RCMP can volunteer to donate some mug shots of some gangsters and those “known to police”? Throw in a few pics of some pot holes and give the visitors a really warm if not bumpy Prince George welcome? Every day I drive over many “diverse” pot holes.
