April 2012 Had Normal Temps But Lots of Precipitation

Tuesday, May 1, 2012 @ 9:33 AM
Prince George, B.C.- April flipped around in its effort to be the first full month of spring, but, according to Environment Canada Meteorologist Jim Steele, April "never managed to kick into the full meal deal."

Steele says April offered a few periods of normal or slight above normal temperatures, but they  were quickly followed by a cool down.

In his monthly report, Steele says in the end, the monthly mean temperatures ended up close to the 30 year normal.

Here is the balance of his monthly report;
On the precipitation side of things, the month rolled along with near normal rain and snowfall amounts until the last week of the month. A deluge of rain fell across the area on the 26th dumping just over 15 mm, a new record for the day. This was followed by yet another soaker on the last day of the month with an addition 10 mm being recorded. This last week managed to boost the monthly precipitation well above the normal April.
Into the record books, April 2012 will show near normal temperatures however wetter than normal conditions.
