Good Morning and have a great day. Fix the roads :(
I have this picture embedded in my mind of Shari Green running the cash register of a cheap toy shop and Cameron Stolz, on the floor selling to unassuming children. I hope the people of Prince George put the bar a little higher for the next election before voting in these puppets.
Oil trading under $100.00 bucks a barrel today. Guess with the long weekend coming up we should be paying a few pennies more at the pump.
Anyone seen a sweeper in the residential areas yet?
As for setting the bar higher at the next civic election good idea. In the past election I believe the bar was missing completely as far as Green and Stolz are concerned.
City and council not caring what the citizens of PG want, but just doing whatever they want, examples are, a raise they voted for themselves unanimously, buying up all the property long the river, still spending money for a PAC that no one wants, hiring a assistant for the mayor while laying off at the same time, our roads are is he worst shape ever, taxes constantly going up, fees going up and services going down, garbage cans not allowed to be put on streets before four am of garbage day because it will keep the bears away if right by your house, the waste of $350,000 for an audit.
At least it’s Friday :)
Happy12…..
Anyone who is awake at 5:59am, thinking about that Shari Green and Cameron Stoltz should consider therapy.
Have a wonderful positive day!
Happy 12…
Is probably up at 5:59 to get ready to go and earn money to pay their taxes.

LOL hit a pot hole on my way home from nightshift. Hope you have a daytime job and wear your seat belt so you don’t bump your head or you might not have enough money left to repair your car after therapy. LOL

Resident:”Anyone seen a sweeper in the residential areas yet?”
Yes! The streets in this area have been swept clean. They did a good job. But the chewed-up curbs sure look the $h*ts!
Enjoy the sunshine!
I see PG has four roads that are judged by BCAA as being in the top ten of the worst roads in BC. Unfortunately, PG was left out of the top spot. I know the city is doing its part in trying to keep PG roads the worst in BC. Maybe next year?
So how that it has been announced the DIKE IS OFFICIALLY DEAD is the same true for the PAC? Now that Jo is resigned (to the fact he knows no money is available to him here) what’s going on with this boondogle? Sure would be nice to see that announced as well just like the headline last week. Great work everyone that helped out getting the signatures to KILL THE DIKE. Now FIX THE ROADS.
Soon the HST will be extinguished and the LIE-berals extinguished COMPLETELY as well.
Where have all the moose gone
Hunters in the Prince George and surrounding area are finding it more and more difficult to find a moose every year. I am fortunate to be able to take 5 to 7 weeks off ever hunting season. I have talked to a lot of hunters and they are leaving the bush year after year with no meat in the freezer. Lots of hunters are against cow calf season, they believe that by taking the cow or calf is depleting future moose, according to fish and wildlife 10 moose poached in one area is a lose of 60 to 70 moose in five years. They also say that only 2% of poaching incidents are reported.
So this being true why are they allowing cow/ calf season. I talked to a conservation officer a couple years ago, and when I asked him why they have it. His response was I quote (Its to generate money) I asked him if he would give me that in writing, he replied no I like my job. The poaching in BC is at an all time high, I have found 4 large bulls in 4 consecutive years that have been shot and left. All these moose were shot on the road. So if I can find 4 moose shot and left in one area, how many are left each year. There are not enough conservation officers in the Prince George area, their needs to be a lot more. Now letâs look at natural predators wolfs and bears do kill moose and they always have and yes they do take a lot down. Since all teran vehicles have come out, hunters have been shooting moose in areas that were so remote where before they would not even think of shooting one. So these remote pockets of moose are getting less.
The BC government would have you believe that wolfs are the main cause of the moose lose. This is a lot further from the truth than they would have you believe.
They will not blame themselves for total gross negligent are their part.
When the LEH hunting cards first came out they told us give us ten years and we would have an over abundant of moose in BC. That was over 30 years ago and still here we are. When I asked a Biologist what he had to say about a alack of moose In Prince George area. He informed me that the moose population has been stable for years. These guys need to get out in the field more and quit looking at numbers and graphs. The hunting questioner that is supposed to be filled out ever year for those that hunt is a joke. I know a lot of hunters that throw them in the garbage or just outright lie on them. Do you really think that poachers fill them out correctly? So for them to use this information to base how many animals are harvested every year is a bigger joke.
What is worse is they extended calf season. Your trading 140lb animal for one thatâs 340 lbs the following year. And those of you that say 140 lbs of meat is all you need is hogwash, ever hunter I run across that is hunting cow/calf there is always at least two of you. A lot of cows shot in October are already pregnant, so you are killing up to 3 moose. Now lets look at the BC biggest killer CN Rail, they kill thousands of moose, deer, elk, etc you name it. If it is on the tracks they kill it. This happens every year in our province. There is nothing done about it. Sections where animals are being hit the most need to be fenced off, runaway lanes need to be plowed when the snow is deep. We are building overpasses on our highways to protect our wildlife, why are we not doing something on our rail tracks, because the average Joe does not see the carnage on the tracks he sees on the highway. Take a trip on the passenger train in late spring to McBride or Terrace, ever 100 meters there is a blood splatter. I talked to a Train man that had made 23 trips to Chetwynd in a 4 week period he told me that he hit 21 moose, times that by how many trains are running around the clock. Heâs supposed to phone it in so they will come out and dispatch the animal thatâs laying there with its legs cut off. He told me he does phone it in but He sees the animal still laying there 24 hours latter. He also told me that his boss has told him to speed up when he sees an animal not slow down. This I imagine is so they donât have to pay someone to come out and kill it. Its Getting worse not better The government Would have you spend your hard earned dollars on tags, license, fuel, groceries, etc.
And have you believe the moose population is alive and well.
I know of a few guys that donât hunt anymore, they have taken matters into there own hands by putting in cow draws and if they get the draws they put them in their desk and donât use them. If 10 cows are saved that means an increase of 60 to 70 moose in 5 years are saved. So if you know any one that does not hunt, have them put in cow draws since BC Biologist is more interested in keeping the money flowing then in conservation.
We have potholes, high taxes, over priced fuel and crumby leaders. But it is beautiful day, no one is bombing us and if your reading this you likely have enough money for food and a roof over your head. Life isn’t that bad. Pull your socks up and smile.
Wish the city would have WI-FI at the Four Seasons Pool.
I have no problem filling my moose tags every year.
Is operating an Ambulance very expensive ?
So I ask why are Ambulance personnel allowed to us them to go to any food place (Wed. was Subway) and pick up Lunch while one sits in the Ambulance idilling while the other goes in and place’s there order.
I’m not allowed to use my work vehicle to go to lunch so why are they ?
Seems like a VERY expensive sandwich.
(that we pay for)
doneright…
Have a Moose on my Place, don’t hunt anymore
and haven’t stripped all Trees of the Land like so many do around here to make a Dollar.
lou: Maybe that is their protocol, one stays in to listen for dispatch? They are probably required to be ready for any call at any time.
For leaving the ambulance idling, I have no idea.
Nor do I apester. Lots of moose out there. Just gotta know how to get them.
Isn’t that method, (LEH Draws) of trying to protect animals a PETA tactic doneright?
With all the whyning and complaining(it’s justified) about the roads in Prince George why are there still vehicles on the road with their studded tires still on.(Not justified).Hope the police are writing them up.
Are studded tires adding to the deterioration of the roads?
Is the City’s de-icing agent causing problems?
yes to both questions. Take the studded tires off. There are Provinces that donot allow studded ties because of the damage they cause when the temps get a bit higher and the surface warmer.Fine them and then listen to the whyning.
doneright, I shot a calf last year and it weighted in over 300 pounds. I don’t know what kind of people you know that shoot 140 pound babies but that’s not most hunters. I agree that poaching is a problem but shooting calves is not. They would just get shot as adults anyway, so I don’t see how that’s “saving” any moose. Also, my family in PG hasn’t ever had a problem finding a moose to shoot there. Maybe you should get out of your truck and go for a walk once in a while :)
huntergirl2012
The calfs that are shot do not (dress) in anything over 170lbs. If you shot a moose that dressed in at 300 lbs you shot a year and 1/2 old. Not a calf. You better do your research.
Maybe you dont have a problem if your shooting moose, if you think a calf weighs 300 lbs dressed.
Ben, I was listening to your show this a.m. and was so happy to hear you tell “Pete” to make sense or you would drop him. I have heard this fellow quite a few times (as have you) and have changed the channel each time he talks.
well you didn’t specify that when you were ranting doneright. you made it sound like people were dropping babies that were standing there at 140 lbs. i didn’t mean dressed out. but of course i’m a girl so what do i know about hunting except im supposed to make sure any camo i own is pink right? :)
I read in the Citizen this AM that our Chamber of Commerce had a “climate change” guy addressing them in a forum.A partial quote from this gent states, “….get our act together and make money doing it”. Whose money? Taken from me by more taxation? Obviously the guy should be talking to Premier Dad in Ontario about how to make money with climate change. Ontario has a lot of debt related to that. I tried not to take this guys words “out of context”. Our C of C likes our HST. Sure hope “global warming” funding isn’t adopted by our Chamber. They hang around city hall, you know.
You read the Citizen?
Moose look like they taste and taste like they look. Pigs on the other hand…..
My Sis just got an e-mail from CKPG to…
“cancel your credit card to avoid any potential fraudulent use as the info may have been compromised”.
They had the info because of their AuctionNet.
On top of that CKPG sent it out as a regular CC and not a Blind CC… so everybody receiving that message has everybody else’s’ email address now.
Not cool on so many levels. Anybody else get this message today?
Lou for the job ambulance attendents do give them some leeway. They don’t get a time off lunch break. Next time why don’t you walk up and say, heh dude watcha doin?
Seen an eagle out on the highway out muscling the crows for their regular road side meal. One knows winter is over when the eagles are back and putting the run on the crows.
Old Scam starts up again. Microsoft from India want to check your PC, got two calls today.
“So how (sic) that it has been announced the DIKE IS OFFICIALLY DEAD ….. “
I thought the announcement was that the borrowing of money for the City’s portion of the project was dead since the decision was not to spend the money on a referendum.
I did not hear that the project is dead.
I understood that the administration was asked about imapact on the full plan for flood mitigation. Some of you may not know that the River Rd dam is only part of that full plan.
Therefore, I expect that we will eventually get a report of some alternatives. In fact, administration will likely go to the engineers and ask them their expert opinion since the City really has no expertise in that area as far as I can tell.
So ….. a bit more money to be spent on figuring out an alternative plan is likely in the works.
It is like a soap opera … you never know whether the guy that got shot is really dead .. or whether it was just someone’s dream …. LOL
Darn you Gus….after listening to the responses from councilors Stolz and Krause, I have to say… you are correct sir!
Well, I am just the messenger …. so keep that in mind.
It will be interesting to follow this to see whether anyone got one of the message that I think was sent …… keep giving us incomplete informnation, especially information in a form that the average citizen does not understand, and you will be treated in the same way over and over again until you do get it …..
Oh and is nobody on here going to mention the 6%-20% raise for top level B.C. government employees ? Might be old news but Global BC is even reporting it.
Cheetos must be in mourning. James Marker, the inventor of Cheezies, has passed away in Ontario.
May he rest in Cheezie heaven.
They need the raise because many may be living in the most expensive city in Canada.
We need to move a few of those jobs to PG. Cheap cost of living and government ministry spending reductions, a match made in heaven.
Gus :
A fellow once told me….
As individuals humans are very smart
In large groups humans are very dumb
I’ve always believed he was talking about elections.
Oh, six BC cities made it onto the 10 worst Canadian cities to live in:
10â¢Terrace, B.C.
09â¢La Tuque, Que.
08â¢Summerside, P.E.I.
07â¢Prince Rupert, B.C.
06â¢Campbell River, B.C.
05â¢Port Alberni, B.C.
04â¢Quesnel, B.C.
03â¢New Glasgow, N.S.
02â¢Williams Lake, B.C.
01â¢Bay Roberts, Nfld.
We are lucky to be very close to 2 of them ….. :-)
…. yet not be on the list …..
Lucky for us potholes are not on the critera list yet … LOL
Lack of a PAC is though ….. :-(
Debt is not on the list either ….. ;-)
Gee….I guess if Terrace or Quesnel builds a PAC…..we’re hooped…LOL!
I quite enjoyed your (original post) doneright.
Nice to read something a little different on here today.
River Road Dike Project Officially Dead
By 250 News
Monday, April 30, 2012 09:57 PM
Was posted Monday. 4 days ago.
Because there were sufficient signatures to force the dike issue to a referendum, the City was faced with two options.
Option 1. Was to discontinue the dike option in its present form.
Option 2. Was to go to a referendum.
The Council voted for Option 1, which effectively killed the dike project.
When Derek Bates the City Manager was asked what would be the result if the City voted for option one, he replied that the City would have to go to the Federal and Provincial Government and advise them that they could not accept the funding on the dike project, because they no longer had a project. In addition when Stoltz asked about approaching the senior levels of Government to get an extension on spending the money. (The project had to be completed by Feb 2014 in order to qualify for the money) He was told that in essence he was trying to get the dike project through the back door. His motion was voted down.
So unless I’m missing something the project for all intents and purposes is dead, insofar as borrowing money is concerned.
If the City tries to work with the Feds/Prov and build the dike anyway, using the $5.4 Million and the money from the Land Reserve Fund, then of course we would be looking at a different kettle of fish.
The first question to be asked would be how could the City take money from the land reserve fund, and purchase property on the North Side of River Road for a dike project before they got the **ok** from the electors to borrow the money for a dike.
Seems to me its this type of manipulation thats needs to be looked into by the new office of Municipal Auditors.
City Council has some questions to answer in regards to just how much money was spent before they went to the taxpayers with the AAP.
They will also have to come up with some answers as to how exactly their Community Energy System, will run, what effect will their gas plant on 2nd and George ST. have on the environment, and how they will be able to reduce fine particulites into the air, when they no longer have a Community Energy System, as originally planned. In addition how will they generate a revenue stream for the City, when they are basically doing the same to-day that they were a year ago. That is, heating the buildings with natural gas.
I think we have the makings of a huge boondoogle on our hands.
Gus says – “Cheetos must be in mourning. James Marker, the inventor of Cheezies, has passed away in Ontario.
May he rest in Cheezie heaven.”
I think I’ll keep a bag of Cheezies under my pillow tonight and give it a little hug.
I found a good cure for the pot hole situation in Prince George…a Ford F150 4X4 a sweat ride even on Tabor Blvd.
Now lets try and put a positive spin on our pot hole smitten roads….we could invite the Baja 1000 to our fair City…
How about buying a wind turbine for the top of Cranbrook Hill? What’s a few dead birds if we’re saving the environment?
“Gus says – “Cheetos must be in mourning. James Marker, the inventor of Cheezies, has passed away in Ontario.
May he rest in Cheezie heaven.”
No offense intended to Cheetos namesake, but Hawkins Cheezies are far superior to Cheetos in every way. A sad day indeed!
Palopu wrote: “They will also have to come up with some answers as to how exactly their Community Energy System, will run”
The answer lies in the original plan to start with and now lies in the contract between the City and Lakeland which envisages non-performance by either parties. In this case, it may end up being Lakeland unless they have another solution contemplated in the contract.
We have to remember that the original plan was to have the energy plant located below Patricia Blvd. We may remember that the Millar group made a successful representation to force the City to retreat from that location. So the original plan did not rely on a mill supplying the energy.
The second plan involved Lakeland in a new location and probably in a better business arrangement until disaster struck. As with any good contract, such non performances were addressed.
There are many clauses in the contract which address situations as have just happened. Probably the most direct is found on page 17 of the agreement.
“6.1 Entitlement of City to Operate Facility â
During any period in which:
(a) the supply of thermal energy by Lakeland under Article 2 has been suspended for more than twenty (20) business days; and
(b) such suspension of supply is not attributable to:
(i) any default by the City of this Agreement;
(ii) a Forced Outage of, or defect in, the DES Plant; or
(iii) any loss of, damage to or malfunction in the Lakeland Energy Plant which is being diligently remedied by Lakeland, the City and its duly appointed representatives and consultants may, upon one business dayâs notice to Lakeland, enter upon the Lakeland Lands and take any steps reasonably required to operate the Lakeland Energy Plant to the extent necessary to restore such supply. Such steps shall include using any wood residue located on the Lakeland Lands to fire Lakelandâs boiler and, if such wood reside is insufficient, importing and using the Cityâs own wood residue.
The entire agreement and associated bylaw can be read here:
http://princegeorge.ca/cityservices/utilities/districtenergy/Documents/BL8296_Lakeland_Energy_Supply_Agreement_Bylaw_HANDOUT.pdf
It appears to me the City has protected itself relatively well. Should Lakeland be unable to comply with operating the Lakeland Energy Plant, the City is in a legal position to do so. It might be more expensive to do, but it can be legally done.
Sometimes the required information is readily available. :-)

You are killing babies, for what meat, go back and read what I said. If you are a meat hunter it makes more sense to kill a animal double in size than killing a calf.
And when you grow up and loose someone young and close to you, maybe you will think back on what those cows feel like when they loose a baby.
