Grass fire in a greenbelt near Finlay Drive and 20th Avenue last night

Prince George, BC – Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a grass fire burning in a greenbelt near a residential neighbourhood in the city last night.

Assistant Fire Chief John Law says one fire truck with four fire fighters was called out to deal with the fire that covered a patch of grass approximately 95 square metres, in the Seymour Subdivision near Finlay Drive and 20th Avenue.

250News’ photographer noticed smoke billowing from the area while driving along Massey Drive at approximately 6:30pm last night and went to investigate.  Both Fire Rescue and the RCMP were on the scene.

Assistant Chief Law says it appears to have been started by persons unknown, but the official cause has yet to be determined.

Fortunately, there were no injuries or damage to any nearby homes.
