Prince George, B.C.—The Gateway Business Improvement Association finished off the 2011/2012 fiscal year with a surplus in the amount of just over $60 thousand dollars. That was after they paid for street improvements, advertising, office and general fees.
The information was presented to Prince George City Council last night.
The budget presented for the 2012/2013 fiscal year, calls for nearly $60 thousand dollars to be spent to “straighten street signs” and $36 thousand dollars to light up the trees. The balance of the $100 thousand in revenue from the special levy paid by gateway property owners will be used for street maintenance ($3850) and office costs ($1,000).

I am wondering why property owners in a business improvement area would have to fund the straightening of street signs. I would think that is the responsibility of the City.
Is there something that the business and/or property owners of the area are doing to cause the signs to be crooked?
The Gateway BIA has been doing a wonderful job keeping the area well maintained. A bright spot considering the neighbourhood.
The Gateway BIA has been doing a great job in a tough area, proving to us all that taking pride in their neighbourhood can work. Too bad now that they THEY aren’t the city coucil!
If the signs weren’t crooked, you wouldn’t notice. Maybe that was their plan.
