Alleged Impaired Driver Involved in Crash with Police Cruiser

Tuesday, May 8, 2012 @ 12:33 PM
Prince George,  B.C.- An  18 year old is facing charged after the  vehicle he was  driving collided with a Prince George RCMP Police cruiser on Sunday.

According to the RCMP,  just after 10:00 PM, a general duty officer in a fully marked police car was responding to a routine call, south bound on O’Grady Road. The officer observed an oncoming vehicle strike the north bound curb and then veer into the path of the police vehicle. Anticipating the collision, the officer was able to brake substantially before impact, lessening the effects.

The uninjured officer exited the police vehicle and immediately went to the aid of the occupants of the other vehicle. Both the 18 year old driver and the 19 year old passenger appeared to be uninjured and refused medical treatment. As a result of observations made of the driver, the officer began an Impaired Driving investigation.

The driver was arrested for Impaired Driving and transported to the Prince George Detachment. The suspect provided two breath samples, both registering over twice the legal limit.

The accused Prince George resident was released on documents to appear in court on July 11, 2012.

Yes, Darwin was right.

So 18 yrs old most likely has an “N”. Sorry you are banned from driving for life!

Now go after the parents for damages to the cruiser for signing for this losers license.

Duh-uh!

It always bothers me when someone calls someone else a “loser”. He’s 18 years old, for &^%$ sake, I presume you never made a mistake at 18?

Yeah, give him a break, he made a dumb decision. I’ll bet we all have, at one time or another. Luckily no one was hurt.
The law will punish the kid well enough, with fines and driving prohibition.
I do agree with having the kid pay for the repairs to the cop car however.
metalman.

“Now go after the parents for damages to the cruiser for signing for this losers license”

Why would the parents be held responsible for anything?
Thats a joke right?

He’s 18, he’s still a kid and needs his parent to put him back on the right track. I’m tired of seeing bad “N” drivers (they speed, tailgate and think they’re so awesome). All it takes is one accident….

I guess he couldn’t have picked a better spot or obstacle to ‘prove’ what a great driver he was. I’m just happy that no one was hurt. It could have been a lot worse.

Maybe we should raise the driving age to 19. That way the parents would not be liable for these types of actions.

Isn’t it funny how people are sorry when they get caught. Hand him a lifetime bus pass. Don’t give him another chance to make a choice to get drunk and drive. Lucky this time maybe not so much the next time.

The N Stands for Novice.
“You must not drive after consuming any alcohol.”

Strike One, broke above rule.
Strike Two,
“The suspect provided two breath samples, both registering over twice the legal limit.”
Strike Three, he was piss drunk minor and driving.

Mistakes aren’t blowing twice the legal limit.

He knew the rules and totally ignored them. That is not a mistake.
