Prince George, B.C. – The streets of downtown Prince George were filled with the smiling faces of those who turned out to watch the 79th May Day Parade in Prince George.
Under a mainly sunny sky people watched from various vantage points as floats and boats, clowns and fire trucks moved along the route of the parade, put on by the Elks and Shriners. Organizers had everyone gather in the vicinity of the Coliseum by 9:45 this morning, although some eager people taking part were there much earlier.
The parade headed out at 11 o’clock, travelling from the Coliseum to 7th Avenue. Then it wound its way through the Civic Centre Plaza and up to Victoria Street, along to 3rd Avenue where many more enthusiastic onlookers had gathered, all the way down 3rd to George Street, and along George to City Hall.

(at right, the West Jet "float")
Children who watched with their parents were more than pleased as the clowns and other participants handed out candy and other treats, including toys and water bottles.
Next year marks the 80th anniversary of the parade, and it promises to be another great show, and, its absolutely free.
