P.G. Crews Head to Quebec to Battle Fires

Wednesday, May 23, 2012 @ 12:21 PM
Prince George, B.C.- 108 firefighters from the Prince George Fire Centre are being deployed to Quebec tomorrow.   The number is made up of five- 20 person unit crews, five division supervisors and three agency representatives.
A further 102 personnel from the Kamloops Fire Centre will be leaving for Ontario tomorrow.
Quebec and Ontario requested the assistance of B.C. crews through the Canadian Interagency forest Fire Centre.
The crews can be deployed up to two weeks, but can be recalled at any time  should the fire situation in B.C. change and the crews be needed at home.   Costs associated with the deployment are covered by the province making the request.
This is the second out of province deployment for B.C. crews this year. Crews sent to Manitoba on May 15th are returning to B.C. today.
