Prince George, B.C. –The Vancouver Sun is reporting that Northern Health’s Vice President of Medicine, Dr. David Butcher has resigned following an internal investigation.
According to the Sun, Dr. Butcher resigned at the end of March, after there was an internal investigation of an “issue”. The nature of that issue has not been disclosed.
The Sun quotes Northern Health’s Communications director, Steve Raper as saying some information has been provided to the RCMP, but the RCMP are not commenting on whether or not Dr. Butcher is under investigation. Dr. Butcher has not been charged with anything.
The Sun says Dr. Butcher changed his status with the B.C. College of Physicians and Surgeons this spring to “temporarily inactive” . The College has no record of any disciplinary incidents involving Butcher.

Northern Healthâs Vice President of Medicine is obviously not a high profile position if we are learning of the resignation almost two months later.
