Library Offers First Job Workshops

Prince George, B.C. – Starting on Wednesday, May 30th, teens and parents can come out to the Prince George Public library for a series of workshops designed to help young people put their best foot forward entering the job-world. Teens can attend whichever workshop they wish, or all 4 as a series. Each one has a different focus:
May 30 – Starting Out
June 6 – Resume & Interviews
June 13 – When to say ‘No’
June 20 – Job Hunting Skills
Register at the Children’s Info. Desk at the downtown, Bob Harkins Branch – attendance is FREE. This program is for teenagers and their parents only.

What an odd thing to offer at a public library? Maybe next month they will offer safe driving workshops?
I thought exactly the same thing.
I would love to follow the source of the money for the cost of this. Is it municipal tax dollars? Provincial? Ferderal? Did they get $ for this from someone?
Did the province/feds not shut down the student employment office which was a once stop shopping effort and would likely have provided such assistance?
As far as I know, this sort of thing is covered in a high school curriculum.
Again, it would be helpful to edcuate the public a bit about why this program is coming from what seems to be an unusual place.
