Prinice George, B.C.- The Prince George Chamber of Commerce is celebrating it’s success in having four of its resolutions accepted by the BC Chamber at the recent Annual General meeting.
The resolutions were entitled:
– Addressing BC’s Technology and Engineering Skills Shortage;, which focused on asking the Provincial Governmnet to provide funding for technology and engineering programs, facilities and operations to all aregions of the province where the need exists.
– Getting the Most from our Education System: which called for improvements to the K-12 curriculum, especially in the areas of math and science and greater coordination and interplay between the K-12 and post secondary institutions
– Consistent Processes for Disclosure and Remediation of Buildings: which called for the development of a centralized consistent process for disclosure of property history and remediation of buildings that had been used in drug operations
– Online Provincial and Municipal Voting; which supports the exploration and implementation of an online voting system for BC municipal and provincial elections.
The BC Chamber of Commerce will now press the Provincial Government for action on the four resolutions.

“The BC Chamber of Commerce will now press the Provincial Government for action on the four resolutions.”
Does anyone know
1. waht the total number of resolutions to lobby the province are
2. how successful past attempts at lobbying the provincial government by the BC Chamber has been?
A list of the last 3 successful efforts would be nice, along with how long it took for each from the time the province was first approached.
I understand that the BC Chamber lobbied to get a Municipal Auditor in place and that the Quesnel Chamber was associated with that effort. We could count that as one of the three.
Well, they did lobby for the HST and I dropped my membership as a direct result of their success. I don’t see them bragging about their successful lobbying on that one.
