New Website Tool for Rural Development

Friday, June 1, 2012 @ 3:54 AM
Prince George, B.C.- A new website has been launched aimed at providing information for rural and First Nations communities that want to explore green energy opportunities.

The website is part of the multi year Green Energy project which helps small communities examine the economic opportunities that lie with the development of green energy. The case studies,  such as the one on the District of Lake Country’s successful micro-hydro power plant, will be made available on the new website.

"The growth of the alternative energy sector is one of the identified strategic priorities for the Omineca Beetle Action Coalition” says Stephanie Killam, Chair of the Omineca Beetle Action Coalition and Mayor of Mackenzie. “The options, feasibility, technologies and programs impacting the development of the industry are varied and complex, and our small, rural communities usually lack the resources to fully understand the opportunities associated with green energy development. The project will provide significant assistance to our regions."

The webisite can be accessed by clicking here.

For the hundreds of millions the beetle action coalitions have had in funding I think they have underachieved. The web site is probably the most expensive web site ever produced IMO. I figure they took the easy road… so much more our wood could be used for in pulp products, building materials, and value added furniture ect.
