Wednesday, June 6, 2012 @ 4:49 PM

Prince George, B.C. –  A full 25 hours  after the River Forecast Centre  upgraded the  high stream flow advisory to a flood watch, the City of Prince George has just announced it will be issuing evacuation alert notices to residents who may be impacted should the Fraser River spill  its banks.

Evacuation alerts are issued to notify residents of the potential for danger to or loss of life from flooding in their homes or lack of emergency vehicle access. Residents who receive evacuation alert notices can contact the City of Prince George Service Centre at 250-561-7600 for sandbag delivery.

The City of Prince George’s Emergency Operations Level remains  at level one, which is a monitoring level .

Flooding has not yet occurred.  Although the River Forecast Centre’s five day forecast now predicts the Fraser at South Fort George will hit 8.941 meters on Friday, and  9.741 meters on Saturday.

Residents and visitors are again reminded to stay well back from the river banks due to the possibility of hidden erosion. Participation in recreational activities on these rivers is not recommended during the current hazardous conditions.

Maybe the city should have built a dike along the Fraser!

Yes, all along Queensway!

the peak is 0.2 meters lower than this mornings estimate.

Dragonmaster, how long do you think it takes to build a dyke?

The dike ‘discussion’ was going on for, how many years? Yes, leave it to the city to talk and talk and get nothing done.
Is this what we pay them for? Talk, talk and more talk?
