Friday Free for All – June 8, 2012
Friday, June 8, 2012 @ 12:00 AM
Another week is wrapping up and that can only mean one thing…..
it is time for the FRIDAY FREE FOR ALL
You pick the topic, but obey the three basic rules:
Keep it clean
Keep it legal
No Bullying of other posters.
Comments
goodmorning everyone…..
Gas price in 100 mile House was 125.9 this week. Oil at 82 bucks a barrel. Boy are we in PG getting taken to the cleaners one more time by big oil.
Maybe we need another gov’t study to show there is no price fixing happening in the retail gas market.
Fuel prices, get ready for the “existing inventory” excuses.
The price of diesel has gone down about 6 cents a liter the past month or so.
To follow upon Resident’s thene, why is gas 114.9 – which it was this week, and 2 weeks ago it was 116.9 – someone explain Kamloops consistently much lower gas prices please!
Kamloops has a Costco gas station that is very busy, other stations match their price to try to maintain market share.
Another oil pipeline leak near Sundre Alberta. First estimate of 160,000 to 475,000 liters. The oil is heading for the Red River.
Interesting that the pipeline was not operating at the time and the leak was not detected by the pipeline owner.
Not a case of will a oil pipeline leak but when.

On the topic of gas prices , I paid 128.9 per liter for 94 octane premium at schell in Edson AB last week . That is the v power top grade gas . And here it is over 140/ liter.
Shooters on Ospika and Brunswick don’t have live music during the summer months due to being slower. So officially no live music venue’s for dancing in a city of 75k. Way to go Dan and Sherry
Another Friday, more whining about gas prices.
If Skakum gets his way, you can jump the price that much more. Vancouver gets light rapid transit, we get some pot holes paved.
you know I think maybe instead of paying 200.00 on bedding plants, I think I’ll just go with dandelions, they are such a nice yellow colour anyways. besides nothing grows up here anyways, except devils club, chickweed and oh…dandelions!!! have a great friday everyone..;)
Made a tongue in cheek remark in an earlier post in regards to MYPG. Anyone wondering why nothing gets done at city hall should read the reply from gus.
Like most “flavor of the month” projects at city hall, they come out of the gate with guns blazing, balloons and ribbons waving in the breeze only to lose interest in fairly short order and leave it to wither and die, move on to something else like a child with ADHD.
I guess this is why the city needs to spend a mill a year on computers and servers, to host their website graveyard.

BTW gus, you must have the patience of Job to spend 20 minutes at that site, I gave up after 2 minutes when I saw how outdated it was.
It’s a slow day JohnnyBelt …. things might pick up later on …. then again, maybe not …
Chili cook-off time tomorrow at 2880 … some sun is predicted …. hope that will happen … don’t like standing in the rain.
Some of you might get a kick. Out of this…

WHY IS PR. GEO. GAS PRICED FIXED!!!!!
Yes, here we go again and I will post every time even if it pisses off some posters even more so!
Why mommy … why …..
Because ….. ;-)
Time has come that the government should consider throwing some butts in jail. Charge with price fixing and gouging. Maybe that will smarten up some of the oil companies CEO’s.Rest assured if the price per barrel had gone up so would the gas pump price ,even for the fuel already in the storage tanks.SICK OF THE OIL COMPANIES. All crooks.
JhonnyB:”Another Friday, more whining about gas prices.”
More whining about people whining about gas prices.
Not whining. It is called “making observations and commenting”. Right?
The truth hurts, apparently.
Yes, Johnny the truth hurts!
I like to make it KNOWN that the citizen’s of Prince George are GOUGED at the pumps, over and over and over AGAIN!
what’s with the traffic lights at ospika
and 15th? why can’t they leave them alone.
seems a big waste of money installing the camera there and have the lights flashing most of the day.
another whine, why are we getting screwed
on the gas prices?
lonesome sparrow wrote: “BTW gus, you must have the patience of Job to spend 20 minutes at that site,”
I generally like to give people the benefit of the doubt. :-)
Also wanted to make sure I was not complaining without at least some factual information. Most of that time, of course, was spent recording it to this site.
I know people do not like it when someone just complains without providing some guidance on how to improve. So here are a couple of suggestions any good webmaster could tell the City ….. the site looks like it was put together by amateurs … free “canned” sites are better than the format of that.
1. keep it simple – ease of navigation for customers = ease of site maintenance for webmasters.
2. make sure links to your own site work at all times (the city’s own sites have the most frequent link failures).
3.information needs to be current and specific … generalities are of no use to anyone.
Can someone please show their “official gas price monitor” badge and state for the record that after much study and polling the public on O-250, it has been determined that purchasers of gasoline at the pumps in Prince George are getting screwed more often than anyone in BC buying gas in theior community …. and considerably more often than those who live in Kamloops.
I heard we are getting gouged at the pump. Does anyone know anything about this???
Hey Gus, why don’t you give a long winded answer as to why we are gouged at the gas pumps in Prince George.
You seem to have the crystal ball of knowledge and answers to everything on Opinion 250. Maybe you can get together with Johnny,Pr. Geo., and let us know what the big secret is. Obviously you 3 know something that we don’t.
I have a question and an opinion as to why we are stuck at one set price of 133.9 when the rest of the Province gets to enjoy lower price’s when the price of oil fluctuates. So pretell oh wonderous one WHY?
Must be rainy, everyone is cranky. I’m gonna go fuel up with my corporate card and go enjoy the weekend. I don’t even know what the price of fuel is. ;-)
^^^ This ^^^ :-)
Hammy: “You seem to have the crystal ball of knowledge and answers to everything on Opinion 250. Maybe you can get together with Johnny,Pr. Geo., and let us know what the big secret is.”
The big secret is, whining about gas prices every week in the Friday Free for All section of O250 will not change anything.
Prince George…aka
a River Runs Through it.
just drove by paddle wheel park, what a stupid mess a mountain of sand in the middle, stupid stupid people in the city works yard, and city hall, you can’t beat mother nature….a-holes all of them!
I complained to someone at city hall about the lights at 15th and Ospika, 5th and Tabor, Massey and Westwood, Ferry and Westwood and Ferry and Recreational Pl ‘way back in September or October. So far nothing has been done about them.15th and Ospika haven’t worked properly since they put the cameras in but I guess they don’t have the ability or know-how to set them up properly.
Gleniffer Lake oil slick

News Flash!
City workers on overtime to measure level of Fraser river. I feel so much more safe and secure now.
Go to gasbuddy.com and check prices when leaving and returning to PG. In other words buy gas out of town as much as you can.
“The truth hurts, apparently.” So does the fact that oil pipelines DO actually break (!) and spill oil massively into a creek, perhaps even into the Red River!
More spin to come about 100% leak proof pipelines…
One solution to the high gas prices would be to change your driving habits ie: use your feet for short trips instead of your vehicle! It’s about supply and demand – if the demand is reduced, then prices will be reduced. It’s not rocket science!
It’s the Red Deer River and Gleniffer Lake reservoir is actually the Red Deer River.
PG: “So does the fact that oil pipelines DO actually break (!) and spill oil massively into a creek, perhaps even into the Red River!

The reality is that there’s risk everywhere. Unfortunately, until people stop using oil, we still need pipelines.

Finally someone gets it!
Walk instead of drive? Easy for urban dwellers who have the option. :-)
We don’t need more gas tax, we need toll booths on the major routes into town!
Finally someone gets it!
For every Canadian driver reducing his driving and walking for a change a hundred new Chinese drivers will register there first ever gasoline powered chariots and zoom down the road using fuel made from crude imported from the Alberta tarsands!
The new police station on Victoria seems to be coming along nicely! I wonder, when it’s completed, if they will be giving open house tours before they fill the cells ?
I see the City has it’s priorities in order. Brand new road paint on River Road.
Just to change the subject , this is directed to all of those who complain our motorcycles are too loud . Do you condone stereo systems in cars that are louder than most nightclub systems? I was sitting in my car at 16 and 97 waiting for the light . A Ford pick up pulled up behind me with the stereo blaring so high I could actually feel the bass in the driver seat of MY car!!! So my question is are you ok with this or are you just bigoted towards bikers? At least with my “loud exhaust” I can still hear what is going on around me .
HarleyGuy72, always making excuses. I see you have a car, watch out for bikes.
nice day today
