Fraser Expected to Peak Today

Last evening, just the top of the backrest of a viewing bench was visible at Paddlewheel park,( photo at left) this morning, the bench was totally underwater (photo at right)
Prince George, B.C.- The experts are predicting the Fraser river will peak by mid day today, topping out between 9.60â9.65m early this afternoon at South Fort George.
The river has already spilled its banks, well into Paddlewheel Park., but gabion dikes have been used to form a barrier down the middle of Farrell Street, to protect homes on the west side of that dike.

Evacuation orders were delivered to 17 residences in the Farrell Street area last evening. The Emergency Reception Centre has been established at the Annex at Prince George City Hall.
Cottonwood Island Park is also flooded at confluence of the Nechako and Fraser Rivers due to the rising waters in both rivers. ( see photo below)
