City Hands Out Enhancement Grants

Monday, June 11, 2012 @ 4:21 AM
Prince George, B.C. – The City of Prince George is inviting the media to a meet and greet Tuesday morning at City Hall.

The purpose: Mayor and council will be handing out $8000 in Community Enhancement Grants to 13 organizations. The city says the groups are engaging in projects that address some of the MyPG goals, including Clear Identity and Pride, a Healthy and Active Community, and a Green, Clean and Safe Community. Some of the items targeted for funds are public art, gardening projects for children, community gardens, and flower baskets.

Earlier in the budget process city council approved $55,000 for flower baskets in passing this year’s  DBIA budget.

City Hall – please get your/our house in order before spending anymore on frills………

The phrase, “Putting lipstick on a Pig” comes to mind.

I’m on board with ‘guesswhat’. Why doesn’t the city get businesses or individuals to ‘adopt’ the flower baskets? Green is like a woman on a shopping spree. “So then they had this great deal on………”
