Summer Highway Paving Projects About To Begin
Prince George, BC – It is that time of year when paving crews beginning set up shop on area highways…
There are three major road repair and overlay projects in the Prince George region that are part of a $5.5-million dollar contract awarded by the provincial government to Pittman Asphalt.
The largest project is north of the city, Highway 97 from North Kelly Road to the Salmon River bridge will see 12.5-km of overlay paving. Government officials point out that in addition to benefitting the nearby rural communities, it is the main link between the Central Interior and Peace River region.
The Carlson-Eagleview bus loop will see repairs and overlay paving on a 4.5-km stretch. And a 4.2-km section of Isle Pierre Road off Highway 16 West is also slated for rehabilitation and re-paving to improve the safety and reliability of the road into the mill.
Work on all three project is scheduled to begin later this month and be complete by August.

All we need is summer!
I had not heard of Summer Highway before.
Please everyone, observe the construction zone speed limits and flag people. Zone speeding fines are double and flag people are fragile. Have an enjoyable, safe summer.

Its been the main link since about the 1930’s. Thats like telling us that 5th Avenue is the main link to downtown Pr George. Duhhhhhh. Do they think we are stupid.
This paving project works out to approx $260,000.00 per km.
Yes, I see the 1 inch of pavement ground off the surface from Northland Chrysler and the Playhouse. Put a new 1 inch of new paving down and we will be good for another 5 years.
This just highlights our problem. 1 inch is not enough to solve the problem. Why can’t anyone figure this out?
