RDFFG Issues One Evacuation Order

Tuesday, June 19, 2012 @ 9:11 AM

Prince George, B.C.- The RegionalDistrict of Fraser Fort George has  issued one evacuation order, but it isn’t to  anyone living along the Fraser River.

The order is for an individual property on Leona Creek near Tete Jaune. The property straddles the creek where Sunday’s  mud slide occurred. Provincial officials have advised that there is still a build up of debris upstream from the residence of concern creating a risk of an additional debris torrent.

There are no other evacuation orders at this time from the Regional District, although an evacuation alert remains in effect for residents in Foreman Flats and 10 homes in the Shelley Townsite along the bank of the Fraser River.

River levels in those areas continue to rise.
