Summer Officially Arrives Today

Prince George, B.C.- Summer officially arrives at 4:09 this afternoon, but the weather is not expected to be too “summery”.
The forecast is calling for possible thunderstorms later today, and with the exception of a glimpse of sunshine on Friday, it would appear there is a good chance Prince George will have showers right through to next week.
Just in case you are wondering, the Environment Canada three month prediction called for normal precipitation and above normal temperatures for our region through to the end of August. Time to head back to the drawing board.

Officially maybe, but the reality is that PG weather pretty much goes from Spring right back to Fall
We’re in the middle of a heat wave out here in Ottawa. We are pretty lucky though, the humidity is not quite as high as what was forecasted earlier in the week. The humidex rating was supposed to be around +47 today, but it only got to around +44. Raw temperature was around +35 on my drive home from work. When I headed in at 6:30 in the morning it was already +22.
Now I know that the humidex rating isn’t the “real” temperature (think opposite of wind chill), but it sure as heck does make it allot more uncomfortable as your body is more more challenged in cooling itself. Breathing is also way tougher because the air actually has “weight” to it. There is really nothing in BC that compares to this. No going for a run at the canal tonight, that’s for sure, LOL.
I should add that I’m not complaining, I’ve become quite accustomed to the hot summers and I’ll admit, I rather like them :)
