Prince George, B.C. – The 2012 Tour de North team has begun training for the over 850km bike ride through north central British Columbia. From September 14th to September 20th, 25 riders will cycle from Prince George to Prince Rupert to raise funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research, Camp Goodtimes and other programs that support kids with cancer.
This year’s Tour de North team consists of 22 RCMP Officers from the North Region, a BCAS Medic Rider from Vanderhoof, two Community Riders and one Media Rider from Prince George. Riders will spend the next four months training and fundraising for the grueling 7 day bike tour. Since the first Cops for Cancer event in North Region in 2001, the Canadian Cancer Society has received more than $1.4 million towards pediatric cancer.
