Family And Friends Continue Search For Missing Bella Bella Man

Sunday, July 1, 2012 @ 4:15 AM

Prince George, BC – It has been two months since a 24-year-old Bella Bella man disappeared while visiting friends in the small island community of Klemtu, off the central coast of the province.

Maxwell Brown Junior was last seen at approximately 1am on May 1st in Klemtu on Swindle Island, which is a ferry or float plane ride away from Bella Bella.

Brown Jr. was reported missing two days later, on May 3rd, after failing to make any contact with family or friends.  At that time, RCMP, along with West Coast Marine Services, BC Coast Guard, RCMP Air Services, and Police Dog Services conduct an exhaustive search of the area from land, water, and air.

This weekend, family, friends, and members of the Heiltsuk Tribal Council have been out searching Jackson Pass – the waterway located between the communities of Bella Bella and Klemtu – in hopes of turning up some sign of the missing man.  Searchers are using boats and other small water vessels in hopes of discovering evidence that may lead to the discovery of Brown Jr.’s wherabouts.
