3rd Wettest June on Record

Prince George, B.C. – June was one soggy month
According to Environment Canada Meteorologist Jim Steele, June saw 169% of the normal rainfall, with 123.1 mm being dumped on the City compared to the normal 72.7mm. In fact , it was the third wettest June on record. If it’s any consolation, it was also the 3rd wettest June ever in Kamloops and one of the wettest June’s ever in the Okanagan.

The month struggled right from the start with a cool and unsettled first week. This was followed by a warming trend however conditions still remained on the unsettled side. The first real burst of summer like warmth arrived with the official start to summer with the warmest days between the 20th and 24th. Conditions cooled off to end the month with once again unsettled conditions. In the end, temperatures came in near normal however daytime highs were still about a degree below normal.
On the precipitation side of things, it rained and then it rained a bit more, in fact 21 out of the 30 days of the month saw measurable rainfall. Three days stand out as the real wet ones, the 6th with 20.3 mm, the 11th with 17.5 mm and the winner the 16th with 25.1 mm. In the end, rainfall came in at almost 170% of normal.
Into the record books, June 2012 will show near normal temperatures and well above normal rainfall.

- Average daily low of 7.7 was above the normal of 7.0 degrees C.
- Mean temperature of 13.1 was near the normal 13.3 degrees C.
- Warmest Day on the 22nd with a maximum temperature of 27.2 degrees
- Coldest day on the 1st with an overnight minimum of 2.4 degrees
Precipitation
- Total precipitation of 123.1 mm was 169% of normal the normal of 72.7 mm.
- Measurable precipitation on 21 days above the normal of 16 days
- Greatest rainfall one day 25.1 mm on the 16th
