Prince George, B.C.- The driver of a truck has been charged after his vehicle rolled on Queensway in Prince George.
Just before 1:00 PM today, the Prince George RCMP received a report of an overturned garbage truck on Queensway in the City.
RCMP, Prince George Fire / Rescue and the BC Ambulance Service all attended the scene.
The driver of a fully loaded southbound commercial garbage truck attempted to negotiate a right hand curve on Queensway between Jasper Street and La Salle Avenue, when the vehicle overturned onto the driver’s side. The driver and lone occupant suffered minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene. No other vehicles were involved.
Although it was not believed that the truck was being driven above the speed limit, police believe the driver was going too fast to negotiate the corner.
The driver, a 46 year old Prince George resident, was charged under the Motor Vehicle Act for Driving without Due Care and Attention.
A section of Queensway remained closed for more than three hours until the load could be removed, the truck towed and the road repaired
