Man Faces Possible Charges After Shot Fired

Vanderhoof, B.C.- A 41 year old Vanderhoof man is in custody and faces several firearms charges following an incident that took place last weekend.
RCM in Vanderhoof were called to a rural property on Blackwater Road in the early hours of July 8th after an incident at a bar-b-que.
According to police, a homeowner hosting the event, got into a verbal argument with another male. As people were leaving the party, the suspect is alleged to have pointed a firearm, then fired a shot into the air.
Vanderhoof RCMP attended the suspect’s residence and arrested the suspect for firearm related offences. A search warrant was executed on the residence and a number of firearms were seized as well as evidence pertaining to a report of Uttering Threats offence.
A 41 year old Vanderhoof resident, has been remanded into custody and is awaiting disposition. Vanderhoof RCMP have recommended 5 charges in relation to the investigation which include a number of firearms offences and Uttering Threats.
There were several animals on the property which were taken by the Vanderhoof RCMP and now have been turned over to an appropriate care provider while this matter is dealt with by the courts. The file has since been forwarded to the local Crown Counsel Office who will review the charge recommendations.
