Building at 3rd and George undergoing major renovations and a facelift – photo-opinion250
Prince George, B.C.- The former Morrison’s Mens Wear store at the corner of 3rd and George Streets will soon be the new home for EDI – Environmental Dynamics Inc.
A building permit valued at $300,000 has been issued for tenant improvement to the building which, until recently, housed the Prince George Farmers Market.
This is one of several major permits granted in the City of Prince George in the month of June. The others are:
- 2187 Ospika Boulevard, Kin Centre Enhancement, $13,118,750
- 1245 20th Avenue, Phase 2 Fire restoration Victoria Towers, $750,000
- 1023 Central Street West, Building B Burger King, $705,000
- 1023 Central Street West, Building A Burger King, $395,000
- 1306 Central Street East, Medical Building, $600,000
- 5758 Albert Place, College Heights Pub Expansion, $156,000
- 7591/7587 Creekside Way, New Duplex, $359,932
- 17 New SFD Permits, $4,557,698.
Year to date permit value ($79,638,191.00) is more than double the value recorded at the same time last year when it hit $35,041,042.00 by the end of June. It is also significantly higher than the amount recorded by the end of June in 2010 when the value was $54,208,173.00
The 17 permits issued in June for single family dwellings is also a high, as there were 12 such permits issued in June of last year, and 15 in June of 2010.
Also of note is a building application that was filed last month for a new Gateway Professional building at 1811 Victoria Street. That project is valued at $850,000.00

Check out the 6th line from the bottom on both of these data tables (Total funds raised equals total funds supplied) and note the present number, and its rate of increase.

Glad to see the Morrisons Mens Wear Building on George St. getting a face lift . What is going on with the Antique Store on George St. it has been closed for over a year ,people have consignment Items that they can’t get out, she won’t answer phone calls or emails. She is still advertising on line ,so what is going on ???
It’s pretty sad the number of places allowed to blcok off sidewalks during construction (eg. Burger King). City doesnt seem to care and BK wont respond to my calls. Meanwhile i walk in the road adn hope to hell noone kills me. All for the sake of a burger joint.
We do not have a “vastly inflated standard of living”, Charles. Nor could we, physically, so long as our overall capacity to ‘produce’ continues to exceed our total necessity and desires to ‘consume’. Which it undoubtedly does, already, and to which we keep adding additional capacity (overall). Even though in ‘boom’ times we only utilise, on average, about 85% of this already existing rated capacity, and in more ‘normal’ times, around 74% of it.
With a few changes to the existing financial system, (which grossly, and increasingly, mis-represents the actual physical reality it’s supposed to be ‘reflecting’ numerically), we could ALL have a standard of living far in excess of the material one we currently do, if that was what was desired.
