Prince George, B.C. – Members of the two unions in the pulp and paper industry in northern BC will be voting this week on proposed 5-year contract agreements with Canfor Pulp Limited Partnership.
The 450 members of Locals 603 and 1133 of the Communication, Energy and Paperworkers Union will be voting on the same tentative package reached between CPLP and Local 9 of the Pulp, Paper and Woodworkers of Canada last week. PPWC represents 425 workers at the P.G. and Intercon Pulp mills.
The two unions reached their agreements last Tuesday evening, and finalized the proposals Wednesday morning.
Local 9 members vote on Wednesday the 18th .
Details of the mirror agreements have not been released, but it’s felt ratification here in the north will mean the contracts become blanket agreements for the industry province-wide.

That is very good news. Is this the first time that both sides feel good about the agreement?
