Prince George, B.C. – Members of the eight nations of the Carrier Sekani Tribal Council have elected a new chief.

In balloting conducted Friday, Terry Teegee was, for the first time, elected CSTC chief, garnering 415 votes. The council’s electoral office says the other candidate, Valerie O’Connal, collected 120 votes.  Incumbent chief David Luggi served two terms but had earlier stated he would not be running this time around.

The position of vice-chief was won by acclamation by Dolly Abraham. Chief Teegee and vice-chief Abraham will serve three-year terms and will officially be sworn into office at the 2012 Annual General Assembly, later this month.
