Residents Aid Injured City Man

Prince George, B.C. – Prince George residents are doing a monumental job in raising funds for the family of a city man who is hospitalized in Kamloops in the wake of a single-vehicle accident earlier this month.
56-year-old Dexter Martin was severely injured after rolling his truck near Kamloops on July 4th. He was placed in an induced coma to combat swelling of the brain and other injuries. His wife, Dawn, was in Nova Scotia at the time and had to take an emergency flight to Kamloops to be at her husband’s side.
Since then expenses for things like hotels, meals and transportation have been adding up, and friends have been putting together fundraising ideas on behalf of Martin, who is a long-time small engine mechanic with the City of Prince George.
On Saturday a barbeque was held outside Martin’s favorite place to shop, Princess Auto, and residents stepped up to the plate by donating more than 4-thousand-dollars.
A pub night is planned this coming Friday at the Westwood Pub, with a silent auction and 50/50 draw. Tickets are 25 bucks a pop.
