Valemount Health Centre Upgrades Completed

Valemount, B.C. – The community of Valemount is celebrating the completion of $3.3 million in renovations and upgrades at the Valemount Community Health Centre.
Tenders for the project were received on July 19, 2011, and work commenced August 10,2011. The project was officially completed on July 13, 2012. The costs for the project were shared between the Province of B.C. and the Fraser Fort
George Regional Hospital District.
“The Province was very pleased to be a partner in the project” said Shirley Bond, MLA, Prince George – Valemount.
“Improvements like this enable our health care professionals to provide the high qualityservice that is important to them and to the residents who live in and aroundValemount.”
$1.8 million of the $3.3 million project was used to renovate the emergency departmentand to improve patient flow throughout the facility. The remaining $1.5 million was used to improve the electrical and mechanical systems.
“The regional hospital district believes it is important to support projects that improve access to health care in smaller communities and we are happy to be a funding partner in this project,” said Murry Krause, Fraser Fort George Regional Hospital District chair.
The upgrades and renovations will allow Northern Health physicians and staff to provide higher quality service in the community of Valemount.
