Mom And Children Escape Willow River House Fire
Prince George, BC – Smoldering debris is all that remains of a home in Willow River, east of Prince George this evening, after a fire this afternoon forced a mom and five children to flee…
Regional District of Fraser Fort George Director, Kevin Dunphy, says the woman, her three children and her niece and nephew were home at the time the blaze broke out. Dunphy says, fortunately, all six escaped injury.
Dunphy, also the owner of the general store in the small community, has been at the scene of the blaze all afternoon. He says members of the Willow River Volunteer Fire Department did a commendable job of containing the blaze, so it did not spread to nearby homes. He expects they will remain on the scene through the night, watching for flare ups.
Dunphy says the fire is believed to have broken out in the kitchen, but he does not have exact details. RCMP and the BC Ambulance Service were also at the scene. The area’s regional district director says Emergency Services stepped in to provide support to the occupants and he believes the family is staying with relatives in the community.
