Prince George, BC – With the peak of the camping season upon, reservation numbers have hit a record high…

The Ministry of Environment says as of July 29th, reservations in BC Parks were up 11-percent over last year, with just under 92-thousand reservations being made so far this summer.

The ministry says the increase is due in part to an expanding reservation system, with campers now being able to secure their sites using mobile applications, in addition to the toll-free phone line and website.

"BC Day is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the spectacular experiences our BC Parks have to offer," says Minister Terry Lake.  "From backcountry wilderness adventures to family barbeques with modern amenities, BC Parks offer hundreds of ways to connect with the treasures in our own backyards that draw visitors from around the world."

Lake says the provincial government is investing nearly 14-million dollars in capital upgrades to parks this year – up 27-percent from last year – as part of an ongoing effort to make them more family-friendly.

Camping is a great low cost adventure! Provincial parks or off the beaten road spots.

I’ve stayed in that very spot!!

BC is a very beautiful province, it’s great to see people getting out and enjoying it!

Yeah–oboy-ohboy ohhhboy! Into the BC Parks widerness with 20,000 other people with their bikes and dogs, TV’s and radios. Yech! Give me the old abandoned forest service sites and a nice calm lake with no noise to wake up to. Frost Lake is a gem and very close to town but you will have to rough it because you can’t really pull a 30 foot trailer in there.
