Langley Blaze Thru Provincial Championship Game
The Langley Blaze are crowned champs at the 2012 BID Group BC Senior Men’s Baseball Provincial Championships
Prince George, BC – The Langley Blaze have clinched the 2012 Senior Men’s Provincial Baseball Championship with a 6-1 victory over the Kamloops Sun Devils at Citizen Field.
Graig Merritt opened scoring for Langley with a solo homer in the first, and went 2-for-4, driving in another run.

The Sun Devils’ only run came on a fifth ining homer by Dave Hole.
Langley’s Scott Webster was named the tournament MVP, after clubbing three home runs and driving in five runs over the course of the weekend. Top Batter was Darren Kolk of Nanaimo, with a .533 average, and Trail’s Kellen Jones won the Top Pitcher Award, winning two games and striking out 14 in 12-and-a-third innings.
With the provincial title, the Blaze have earned the right to represent BC at the Canadian Championships in 2013.
Local tournament organizers say the weekend was a great success.
If anything the weather may have been a little too good…
Spokesperson Dave Barry says the sunshine may have lured a few people away from the stands and out to the lake instead.
