Fort St James, B.C. – This should be a great weekend for stargazers, especially those who gather for the 3rd annual Fort St. James Star Party at the National Historic Site.
The event is hosted by the Royal Astronomical Society of Prince George in conjunction with Parks Canada. It starts this afternoon and runs through the night into Sunday. The event is all about an inky black sky filled with stars, and lots of friendly people interested in seeing & learning about the night sky. And, given the great weather, it should be quite a night for stargazing.
Schedule of the day:
1:00 to 4:00pm – Solar Viewing
7:00pm to 9:00pm – Screening the documentary ‘The City Dark’ on light pollution
9:00pm on – Night sky viewing
Overnight camping is available at $15, but reservations are required. Call 250-996-7191 or get in touch at stjames@pc.gc.ca

Take it from Eagleone that the best place in the north to spend a night star gazing, by far head and shoulders above all other places, is the lookout point on top of Tea Pot Mountain at Summit Lake.
IMO it has world class potential as a star gazer dream location… weather permitting.
Had a great time, the people who came and setup there telescopes were very friendly and the chance to see things that the naked eye can’t is something not to be missed. I thnk you and my two kids thank you for this wonderful opportunity to pause and marvel.
