Picket LInes Up At Plaza 400 Monday

Friday, August 17, 2012 @ 1:58 PM
Prince George, B.C. –  The picket lines will be up in front of Plaza 400 in Prince George on Monday, as members of the BCGEU bring strike action to this community to push their contract demands.

There are 265 BCGEU members in Prince George, and they are among the 25 thousand BCGEU membership across the province who want a new contract that will give them a 3.5% wage increase in the first year and a cost of living allowance in the second. “The membership has taken two zero wage increased in the past, and they don’t want to fall behind anymore” says Oliver Rohlfs, Communications Officer for the union.

The BCGEU’s contract expired at the end of February.

Monday’s strike action will also hit the communities of Cranbrook , Nelson, Dawson Creek and Burns Lake.

Monday’s action will be the third BCGEU job action this summer. In early July , members picketed three Liquor Distribution Branch sites in Vancouver, Victoria and Kamloops. Earlier this month, the union took strike action at Ministry of Forests, Lands & Natural Resource Operations and Ministry of Labour, Agriculture, Health and Environment in Surrey, Kelowna, Campbell River and 100 Mile House

Sorry, you’re just the people that make things run. You don’t deserve any wage increase.
We reserve that for the heads of crown corporations, bureaucrats, managers, our friends, and of course, to give ourselves a nice hefty salary increase.
Don’t you remember we told you we don’t have any money? Now get back to work.

Yes get back to work. How do you expect us to pay for Shirley and Pat’s pension?

Se iinmthe news lately were ICBC paid out 25 million in severence packages. But our vehicle insurance goes up every year.
Cheers

You wont pay for Shirley or Pats pension from the salaries of the BCGEU because taxpayers have to pay the BCGEU wages, along with the MLA’ wages.

Taxpayers cant win in this scenario, unless the BCGEU stays on strike for about a month, then we could save some tax dollars because we wouldnt have to pay them.

So what does BCGEU want? What do they think would be fair considering the state of our economy?

Well,….I’ve had a few beers, so I’m going to quote Retired02’s post from 4:53pm …..”Se linmthe”……?

Hey Middle Finger. You have to be drunk to write like Retired02. lol The mayor of Prince George and staff get a 28% raise why can’t BCGEU employees get $30 an hour? They spend half the time off on stress leave so with pay that works out to about $40 an hour for actual hours worked. Give me a friggin’ break. Like they need a damned raise! This is out of control. Drive the economy down! Drive inflation up. Raise the price of food! There is no limit! Then we all will need raises to keep up to them. lmao.

Wait until you see your electricity bill. Mine went up 45 bucks and I don’t have a smart meter. Hydro told me I must be doing something different to use so much power. Bull!@#$#$!

I always thought you had to be drunk to deal with a union like the BCGEU. After all the dues I paid them, they wouldn’t give me the time of day and I doubt they’ve changed their spots. Soon enough they’ll crawl back in their den, tail between their legs as usual, tellig the membership, well, we tried……………

They rode through the recession just nicely and forget how lucky they are. Take the 3 % and be thankful!

If they chose to go on strike,so be it!But let them stay out a year or 2 so they know what they missed a couple of years ago!

western2 says…”They spend half the time off on stress leave”

And you are a crackhead!
