Burns Lake, B.C.- Later this morning, the nurses residence at the Lakes District Hospital site, will be moved, and you can watch the action through a special webcam.

A live video feed showing the construction of the new Lakes District Hospital and Health Centre is now possible as a webcam has been set up. At the moment, the webcam is pointed to the northeast side of the property where the nurses’ residence is currently located. The nurses’ residence is going to be moved this morning to the south side, to allow for the construction of the new hospital.

Once the residence has been moved, the webcam will be shifted to point to the north side of the property to show the remainder of the site preparation work and construction of the new facility.

Site preparation work includes removal of existing building services, installing new water and sanitary sewer services for the new facility, relocation and removal of portions of the perimeter fencing, and abatement and movement of the existing nurses’ residence, including disposal of the building’s concrete foundations.

The Nurses residence move is scheduled to start at 9:30 this morning and take about two hours to complete.

The Lakes District Hospital and Health Centre replacement project will cost up to $55-million and is expected to be completed in 2015.
