Baseball Championship Officially Opened

Baseball Canada Rep Allan Fitzsimmons, Lheidli T’enneh representative Frank Frederick Sr. ( and great grandson)  along with acting Mayor Dave Wilbur at the  opening ceremony this evening

Prince George, B.C.-  The  Baseball Canada Senior Men’s Baseball Championship  is officially underway as the opening ceremonies  were held this evening.

It has been ten years since Prince George last hosted the Championship.

This year’s edition of the tournament features eight provincial teams, including two from Ontario.  Just like the other Baseball Canada tournaments, this tournament will feature the eight teams divided into two pools, A and B.  Alberta, Nova Scotia, Ontario (1) and Prince George will round out Pool A while BC Manitoba, Nova Scotia and Ontario (2) compose Pool B. 
 
Prince George blanked Ontario (1)  this evening ,2-to zip.
In other games today, B.C.  downed Ontario (2)  5-3 and  Alberta  slammed Nova Scotia  10-3
 
The President of Baseball Canada, Ray Carter,  has issued a very warm welcome to  all participants "The tournament committee has put a great deal of time and effort into preparation for this event to ensure that your stay will be a very enjoyable one.

I feel confident that all players, coaches and officials will return to their provinces with many good memories of Prince George and a successful championship. I thank the tournament committee and the city of Prince George for hosting this prestigious event and wish you every success in this endeavour."
