Northwest Community College Spruces Up For Fall
Prince George, BC – The provincial government has announced $1.2-million dollars in capital funding for Northwest Community College to upgrade its facilities as students get set to return to campus.
The money will address routine maintenance and safety of infrastructure at NWCC’s campuses in Terrace, Houston, Hazelton, Prince Rupert and Kitimat. As well, the trades facility in Terrace will receive a new air compressor.
College President and CEO, Dr. Denise Henning, says, "Infrastructure renewal is critical in our efforts to provide safe, quality learning and working environments for students and staff and helps ensure access to the training and jobs that drive our economy."
The college and government are also detailing how a one-time funding grant of $839-thousand dollars – announced this past spring – will be used to offer short-term training in the region. NWCC plans to create seats in a variety of trades-related fields over the coming year, including introduction to trades and mining skills.

Ironic they are doing this while at the same time laying off most of the staff and the deficit budget due to lack of funding from the government for things like staff, electricity, cutting programs and so on. Making the facility pretty to get ready to sell it off maybe ?
Same problem PG is having with its infrastructure? Cannot handle it with the money they have?
Why? Do they need someone from the outside to help them determine whether they are operating efficiently and effectively?
If they are, where is the money shortage? Base funding from BC? Tuition fee too low? Operating undersubcribed programs?
Seem to be robbing Peter to pay Paul.
