Unemployment Down in P.G.

Prince George, B.C. – The latest unemployment rate shows a drop in jobless numbers for Prince George last month. The rate was 7.0% last month, compared to August of last year when it was 7.4%. In terms of employment, there were 51,800 people employed last month compared to 50,300 in August of 2011.
For the Cariboo region, the unemployment rate increased to 8.6% in August, up from 8.1% in the same month a year ago.
Provincially, the rate declined. It was 6.7% last month, down from the 8.4% in August of 2012.
Nationally, the rate held steady at 7.3%, unchanged from August of 2011.
