Track & Field Hands Out Year-End Awards

Prince George, BC – The Prince George Track and Field Club wrapped up the season with its annual awards banquet over the weekend…

Emma Balazs, Sean Gaiesky and Nathan Ott were honoured as the top senior athletes.  Balazs finished a strong season with a gold medal at the Legion Nationals in the 2000-metre steeple chase and a bronze in the 1500m run.  Gaiesky took top spot in the 1500m at the High School Zones and also captured a gold in the 400m race at the Prince George Sub Zero meet.  Ott managed a top ten finish in every event he entered over the course of the season.

Most Outstanding club members in the 13- to 15-year-old division were Omar Medina, Shelby Jansen and Lauren Matheson.  In the Junior age group (12 and under), Lucas Brownson and Lindsay King were named Most Outstanding.

The club will stage its winter training season at the Northern Sports Centre later this fall…gearing up for its 40th season in the spring.
