Prince George, BC – Women will gather on the steps of city hall this evening to rally and raise awareness about violence against women…
Tonight marks the 21st annual Take Back The Night March in Prince George. Based on a survey conducted last year, the march is a women and children’s march only, with organizers respectfully requesting men provide their support by assisting with a reception afterwards hosted by the local Men Against Violence Against Women committee.
The event is held every year to honour the memory of the women who have not survived violence, to celebrate those who have, and to demand an end to violence.
The rally begins at 7pm on the steps at city hall with a few short speeches before the march begins.

I respect the right for anybody to march for just about any cause, but until men are willing to stand up aainst violence, not as much as is necessary is going to happen to reduce violence.
Sadly, we see violence as a solution to problems being sanctioned in so much of our media, whether it’s the stuff like MMA or TV “entertainment” in all its forms, the movie industry, violent team sports including hockey goonery, or even drunken brawls with some inebrited gal egging on the combatants.
Face it: we live in a society where men’s violence gets harnessed for the benefit of others, whether it’s sports, war, or down ‘n’ dirty police work. It will not stop until men come to their collective senses and refuse to be duped into violent behavior.
Please tell me that is tongue in cheek sarcasm.
