Prince George, BC – The Environment Ministry is continuing an Air Quality Advisory for the city of Prince George…

The advisory means recreational fires are prohibited at this time.

Air Pollution Meteorologist, Dennis Fudge, says both fine particulates and coarse particulates were above provincial air quality objectives as of 4pm this afternoon.  Based on air quality data, Fudge says the high levels are mainlyl due to emissions from industry and dust.

He says a stagnant upper high pressure ridge over the region resulted in the pollutants accumulating in the airshed.  The advisory will remain in effect until further notice, with an update to be provided on Sunday morning.

Fudge says the high pressure system is expected to gradually weaken over the next 48-hours, so air quality conditions may improve faster than forecast.

For information on particulate matter levels, you can check the Ministry’s website at www.bcairquality.ca

Smells like the sewage plant blew up again tonight.

Is this fire smoke from somewhere?
Or is this what we have emitted in the last few day and hasn’t blown away yet?

I will just park and sit in my car at our Civic Centre. No idling and a lot of fresh air there I bet.

Drive to the highest level in the City, say UNBC or the airport, park, leave the engine on and the radiator fan will move the iar along a little faster …. get a few more cars to join you and it will work even better.

Of course if the planes would keep their props and jet runnng all night, it would be gone by the morning.
