Prince George, BC – The Huble Homestead is looking to paint a picture-perfect ending to a successful season celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Huble House…
Operations Manager, Krystal Leason, says centennial celebrations have meant for an extremely busy summer season, but a fun one, too. As part of events this summer, the society published its first children’s book, Mr. Huble Builds A House, with artwork by local artist June Swanky Parker. Leason says the publication has inspired them to finish the season with a community art project – artists are being encouraged to submit a piece of artwork for an upcoming public exhibition.
"We have a substantial collection of art already, which we have displayed at the public library in August and we’ve also had it hanging in Art Space before," says Leason. "But this time, we want to see what other people see when they visit Huble Homestead – what their vision of the house is."
There have already been four or five artists who’ve expressed their interest in taking part in the exhibit. And Leason says she’s seen part of a piece that a local artist has been working on out at the Historic site. Depending on the size of the pieces, there is room for 14 to 20 works.
The deadline for submissions is October 19th. You can contact the Huble Homestead office at 250-564-7033, or go to the website by clicking here for more information. Opening night for the exhibit is November 2nd. The artwork will be on display for the month at Art Space, upstairs at 1685 3rd Avenue
