Need a Bus Schedule? There’s an App For That

Saturday, September 29, 2012 @ 4:38 AM
Prince George, .C.- There is now a smart phone app that delivers the P.G.Transit schedule.

Created by a UNBC student, the app could mean an end to the paper version of the bus scheduled.
UNBC Masters Student, Xinyi Zhuang created the iPhone app to make finding bus times, fast and easy. He launched the app on September 12th, and has already updated it to remove some of the bugs noted in the first version.

Zhuang came to UNBC last January from southern China, “I think this app has great potential to make a better public transit system if there is a way to directly communicate with the digital database of BC Transit. It will be easier to notice schedule changes and notifications.”

The app is free   and he is hopeful it will be a positive accomplishment on his resume as he hopes to one day work at Google.  He is working on a similar app for Android.

That is great, waiting for Android. Down on the coast each bus stop has an unique number and when that number is punched into the phone the bus arrival time is shown using GPS.

Anything that might help put some people in the empty busses I see riding around town is a good thing.

I think there is an app for that coming which will work in conjunction with a big hand coming from the sky, picking people up by the scruff of their necks and leading them to the next bus station.

Something about leading a horse to water comes to mind.

Of course the other app we need is one which will calculate the bus sizes need to service specific routes at different time of the day.

Just think, 10 years ago 10 years go if someone used “app” in a sentence one would have wondered what country they came from.

App??? Do you mean apple? ;-)

Huh!

I think there was an echo in my app….. :-)
